Things may move a little slower here, but the fresh air, towering pines, and an abundance of wildlife make living "up nort" the dream for many. As a resident of Vilas County, photographer Michael Crowley never takes for granted the beauty he finds right outside his front door. His website and Facebook page are filled with photos of sparkling lakes, spectacular night skies, and an array of forest friends, including white albino deer, that stop by for a visit. You can almost smell the scent of pine and feel the crunch of leaves under your feet as you page through the seasons of this special coffee table book that's filled with a palpable love for the Life in the Northwoods.
Michael Crowley has always had a passion for nature and wildlife photography, but it was only after his retirement in 1998 that he was able to move back to northern Wisconsin and dedicate time to capturing the natural beauty he sees around him every day. The Crowley home is in Vilas County, which is surrounded by more than 1,300 lakes along with 73 rivers and streams. With over 100 lakes within seven miles of their home, Mike and his wife Marshia enjoy spending their time sharing the "Life in the Northwoods" with people from around the world who are interested in nature, wildlife, and scenic photography.
